A lei isn’t just a string of flowers—it’s a story told in color, in fragrance, and in feeling. It’s a connection to people and place, a quiet celebration of where we come from and the beauty that surrounds us. With so much aloha and intention, we’re thrilled to welcome you to our newest drop: Lei Bar.

This beautifully curated collection is an ode to two of Hawaiʻi’s most enduring plants—Plumeria and ʻAʻaliʻi—each with deep roots in our landscapes, our memories, and our mele. Designed in-house and created exclusively for Merrie Monarch 2025, our Lei Bar collection features two limited prints you won’t find anywhere else:

✨ Ms. Melia — Our signature Plumeria print, available in two dreamy colorways: Guinness (a rich, elegant dark hue with sunset notes) and Rose (a soft, sun-drenched pink inspired by the late afternoon sky).

🌿 ʻAʻaliʻi Print — A brand-new release designed especially for Merrie Monarch. Wild, resilient, and uniquely Hawaiian, this one’s for the kapa makers, lei po’o makers and the storytellers.

🌸 Why Plumeria?

You’ve smelled it before you’ve even seen it. The Plumeria, or Melia in Hawaiian, is a flower that lives in the soul of Hawaiʻi. It’s the first blossom you reach for when making a lei for your mom, your tutu, or your keiki’s hula performance. It’s the scent of summer, the bloom of rest, the emblem of aloha.

On Hawaiʻi Island, plumeria trees flourish from the coastal trails of Kona to the gardens of Hilo, standing as quiet guardians of our homes and temples. They’re classic, timeless, but always personal. And in the art of lei making, plumeria is a staple: soft, fragrant, and unmistakable. It's no wonder Ms. Melia became the anchor of this collection.

🌿 Why ʻAʻaliʻi?

The ʻAʻaliʻi is not your average lei flower. It’s a plant of legend, favored for its strength, its adaptability, and its ability to thrive in the toughest conditions. It grows on lava flows, cliffsides, and windswept ridges—a true native of Hawaiʻi, and a symbol of resilience.

Hawaiian proverbs even say:
“He ʻāʻaliʻi kū makani mai au; ʻaʻohe makani nāna e kūlaʻi.”
“I am a wind-resisting ʻāʻaliʻi; no gale can push me over.”

On Hawaiʻi Island, the ʻAʻaliʻi is a source of color and fiber for traditional lei and kapa. Its tiny capsule-like blossoms are rich in reds and oranges when dried, a favorite for lei po‘o (head lei) and a rare treasure in lei hula. It represents the strength and soul of our ancestors—and for Merrie Monarch, it’s a perfect fit. Our exclusive ʻAʻaliʻi print honors this humble warrior plant, born of lava and salt.
